This morning as I sat sipping my second cup of coffee I began contemplating the little things in life. The things we overlook as we scan the horizon looking for the one great thing to make our life complete. I was struck by the thought that as we wait, life is happening around us and chances are the big thing may never come. Alas, we’ve missed out on life. While waiting, let me explain.
We may never sing before thousands but we can lift our voice in praise to the greatest audience of all. We may not be a celebrity but we have a few close friends that could use a hug or word of affirmation. We may not own the biggest house in the neighborhood but we have a roof over our heads.
Maybe we can’t send a dozen roses but we can gather a wildflower bouquet. So maybe there’s no money in the budget for a week at the beach but perhaps you can slip away for an afternoon adventure. Your name may never appear in lights but you can make a difference in the life of a child.
Small things you might think but when added together they are things that make up daily life. There is a saying – “bloom where you are planted”. I think that sums up nicely what I am trying to say. While we work on that concept, we are growing and blooming and one day we will be a beautiful flower, brightening our space in God’s great garden.
Think about that today and brighten the corner where you are.
