We’ve all experienced it – that joyful anticipation of something special, a new venture, a special gift, the long awaited arrival of a friend. We spend days dreaming of the day and it seems it will never get here. When it finally does arrive, our smiles break out and our hearts beat a little faster. Wouldn’t it be great if our anticipation for Heaven was like that? After all, that is our goal.
In the song, “Party Time”, Jeff and Sheri Easter sing, “the day that she lived for is finally here”. It is referring to a saints’ home going as a going away party. What a great idea.
I don’t mean to be so caught up in going to heaven that we’re no good here, but to live in joyful expectation of the day that really is the fulfillment of what we’ve worked for, lived for, planned for.
As Christians, we can have the hope that our home going will indeed be a party and Jesus will be the host. Doesn’t that make you want to celebrate!
